Year 4 ~ Christianity ~ Easter Gardens

In connection with our R.E. work on Christianity, we have been learning about the importance of Easter to Christians. Churches often make ‘ Easter Gardens ’ to symbolize the story of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The garden would usually include a small mound of earth with three crosses to illustrate that Jesus was crucified. It also would have a garden with an empty tomb and a stone that had been rolled away to show that Jesus had risen from the dead. The entire year group participated in this very enjoyable activity and the children really enjoyed planning their garden and learning about the significance of their gardens.
