Promotional Film for the English Cricket Board
A Very Important Person visits Dore Primary School.
On Monday 25th September Michael Vaughan came to film at school. He is making a film with the English Cricket Board to promote cricket played at schools and to encourage children to participate.
It was an early start as we had to be at school and ready to film at 8am. It was interesting to see the different people who were involved with making the film. Michael Vaughan was speaking to the camera, there were two cameramen, a woman was writing the autocue for Michael to read and there was a director who controlled what was filmed and what was said. One of the cameras was large and stood on a tripod so the cameraman could keep it still. The other camera was held on the cameraman's shoulder and was lighter. This was the camera that was used to film from low angles and to get in close to the action.
I thought the children were fantastic during the filming. As you can see from some of the photos, they had to carry on playing while cameras were moving around them and while Michael was talking to the camera. They weren't over awed by Michael and he was great at getting them all talking and he put them at their ease while they were playing. Despite the early start I am sure the children enjoyed the experience and it has certainly given them another fabulous memory of their time at school.

"I really enjoyed playing cricket with Michael Vaughan. It has made me want to play cricket more and more. It is great to think that the ex England captain used to go to our school. It just goes to show that anybody, anywhere can achieve anything as long as you put full determination and effort and never give up." by Alice M
"It was hard getting up at 6.30am to be at school for 8.00am but it was worth it for the cricket. I got to meet Michael Vaughan and I caught him out. We were playing cricket in the background of Michael being interviewed. We got to miss some lessons. We all got to bat and bowl but te best bit was having a picture taken with Michael Vaughan." by Matt. M
" It was hard to get to school for 8.00am but it was worth it in the end. I got to meet Michael Vaughan and maybe get a few seconds on TV. I batted well and I think I might have got caught on camera. My favourite bit was when I got here and I first saw Michael. He bowled and batted, the ball had so much spin on it when he bowled. When he batted he connected brilliantly with the ball.
I had a great time playing cricket and meeting Michael vaughan. It was a great experience. I had my picture taken with him and I would like him to come back and film again." By Tom M
