Welcome Letter from the Headteacher

Many thanks for visiting Dore Primary School website. ICT and its development plays a significant part in our learning at Dore and we are pleased to be able to offer information about our school in this way.
We believe in providing:

  • a broad and varied curriculum
  • a rich variety of experience
  • extra curricular activities including
    • sports
    • music
    • dance
    • drama
  • educational visits, including residential visits.

Successful schooling involves partnership working, and it is vital to us that we have the support of parents and other members of the school community. Visitors then, are always welcome. It would however, be helpful if you could let us know first if you are intending to visit.
We intend to continue providing information about the school via the website and suggest that you keep in touch with what is happening at Dore Primary School in this way. Thank you for your visit, we hope you enjoyed the experience

At the end of each term all the Infant children perform in a concert for their parents. This is a delightful feast of singing, drama and movement.

See the photos from the concert in December 08.

Vision and Aims of the School

Our Vision

At Dore Primary School we will strive towards excellence by promoting a happy, caring, secure and stimulating environment, where individuals develop robust self-esteem and are encouraged to reach their full personal and academic potential.

    Our Aims

  • To provide a broad and balanced curriculum which enables children to think creatively, to develop their skills and knowledge, and to be actively involved in their learning.
  • To use approaches that improve the quality of teaching and learning, including the sharing of best practice and the use of appropriate training for staff.
  • To enable children, within a nurturing environment, to develop as respectful and caring global citizens contributing positively to their own community and the wider world.

One of the Values we highlight.

The school operates a Values and Mottos system which gives the whole school community a common core vocabulary for both learning and discussing issues.

We try to make a positive contribution in our school, our local area and in the wider world.  We regularly take part in local, national and global programmes in order to broaden our understanding of the world we share and of the people who live in it.   In 2008-2009 we took part in Children in Need (see photo), FoodAid, UNIICEF Day for Change, Roumania project, and we campaigned as part of the Send My Friend to School Campaign. Nick Clegg visited our school to collect our No 10 doors for Gordon Brown.
