Our Wildlife Garden - Update

On the last afternoon of the half term we went into the garden to do some more work. It was a lovely afternoon so everyone enjoyed the change from lessons.

All the leaves we removed from the site before Christmas were tidied up and black sacks removed from the site.

We continued to add more soil to the bog garden in readiness for planting later this month. All the soil we added had to be put through a riddle to remove stones and weeds. Doing this certainly kept the girls warm!

Once the new soil had been added it was raked over to flatten the surface.

One of the main reasons we were in the wildlife garden was that someone donated some plants, shrubs and bluebell bulbs to us. They had to be planted quickly to avoid them drying out.

Everyone enjoyed planting the shrubs and took great care to put them where they will grow best. The Lavatera was planted by the large tree branch where children will sit in the summer.

Bluebell bulbs were planted underneath the large tree where the old bog garden used to be. When they flower they should look lovely.

Thank you very much to the gentleman who donated all the plants.
